Ty Simpkins is an American actor. He has starred in the Insidious franchise, most recently Insidious: The Red Door, as well as in Iron Man 3 and Jurassic World, and has also appeared in the films Little Children, Revolutionary Road, The Next Three Days, Arcadia, Hangman, Meadowland, The Nice Guys, Where’s Rose, and The Whale, and on television’s Guiding Light.
His sister, Ryan Simpkins, is an actress. Ty was raised by his Christian mother and Jewish stepfather, from a young age. He grew up celebrating Christian and Jewish holidays. Ty’s sister Ryan has also, ambiguously, stated that she discovered they are of Jewish heritage through their maternal German line.
Ty’s paternal grandfather was Charles Franklin Simpkins (the son of William Long Simpkins and Elizabeth N. Smith). Charles was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. William was the son of Edwin Towne Simpkins and Emma Pratt. Elizabeth was the daughter of James Smith and Mary Hughes.
