We spoke with Hungarian house duo Stadiumx fresh off the release of their latest track ‘Heaven’, which features fellow Hungarian artist Azahriah and a vocal feature from Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Sam Martin. Check out some insight from Stadiumx in to the process of making this song below!

Can you tell me a little bit about how this collaboration came about?

We’ve been working together with singer/songwriter Sam Martin for many years now. Since we had the opportunity to work with David Guetta years ago as a co-producer on his album, the relationship became even closer because at that time Sam wrote the two main singles for David, “Dangerous” and “Lovers On The Sun”. When we were working on “Heaven” Azahriah was getting more and more attention in Hungary. Unfortunately, it is quite rare that a domestic performer has the skills to perform abroad and write songs in English in a unique way. He has that! When we heard his song “Four Moods”, it became clear that we definitely wanted to work with him. We wanted a feature on a song that gives him freedom without throwing him off the sound or being forced. We knew that Heaven was perfect for this and we could make a fantastic song all together.

What were your main creative influences for this track and how did they differ from previous releases?

The song originally had a more classical arrangement and was also a bit slower. We definitely wanted to keep the mid-tempo, laidback style, but update the sound, with strong synth riffs and percussion. We usually write faster, more club/dancefloor oriented songs, but in this case we definitely wanted to keep the atmosphere of the song. Overall, it’s like synthwave meets disco. It worked great with Sam’s and Azi’s voice as well. I would definitely call Giorgio Moroder and Mike Dean as inspiration.

How can you describe working with Sam Martin?

Sam is a fantastic singer/songwriter and a very easy person to work with. He’s a very humble guy and over the years I think we’ve managed to create a vision that we also feel what works for him in a song from the producer’s side. By the way, few people know, but he writes songs for huge names, including Maroon 5, Eazy, John Legend, Ava Max, but I could go on and on. Amazingly talented!

David Guetta is credited as an author on the track, could you tell me more about that and how it came about?

Heaven was originally written for David, so it was out of the question it will be David’s single, but afterwards the song wasn’t on hold for him anymore we were given green light to work on it and finish the entire song.
